Seeing new friends again

If you’ve read all the blogs, you may remember that I met Jamie and Kathleen in Munising, MI on the way east. As it happens, about seven hours from North Bay is, you guessed it, Munising. So I texted my new fiends and said we’d meet them at the brewery at 8:30 pm.
We stopped to buy breakfast, but ended buying more beer, too. :). Well, who knew the LCBO was a liquor store? Jill likes IPAs and so do I. I picked a New England IPA as a part of our eight pack, which she wasn’t thrilled about. She wanted more of the hazy one. But I said we need to broaden our horizons.
We also saw a building where the owner made it very clear that Canada was NOT interested in being the 51st state.
The challenge for the day was pulling the trailer across the high bridge back into the US and getting through customs. And it turned out to be a nothing burger. The bridge was no issue and the border control agent couldn’t have been much less interested in his job, us with our eight beers, or both. Two questions and a glance at our passports, and we were back in the USA.
We stopped to get gas and some lunch and to let Buddha out. It took me way too long to find the kombucha at Meijer and by the time I came out it was spitting. Jill agreed to take the wheel for awhile and then it started to pour. Fortunately the downpour didn’t last too long and it was blue skies from then on.
Yesterday, we got smart(!) and made reservations ahead for tonight so we had a “lake view” camp site at Tourist campground in Munising which is near the famous painted rocks, which I still haven’t seen!
Despite its bland name, the campground was gorgeous. Jill did the backing in of the trailer and Buddha supervised while we did our set up. She seemed so happy to feel the breeze off Lake Superior and we had a fine view. And I got the refrigerator working on propane and shore power. It’s amazing how reading the manual helps.
We made it to the brewery in time to order dinner and a flight before Jamie and Kathleen arrived. It was a fun evening but we all retired early.
Seven more hours of driving tomorrow and we’ll be home.
